Kansas is a Midwestern state that was once covered by native grasses and wildflowers. Today preservation efforts have recovered or protected some of these areas, and photographs and paintings of these huge fields, with rolling white clouds stretching across the horizon, are often breathtaking. Cool museums in the state include the Eisenhower Museum & Library, the Hopalong Cassidy Cowboy Museum, and the Children's Museum of Kansas.

Arts majors (BFA through doctorate-level) are offered at all of Kansas' colleges and universities; technical schools and community colleges offer courses for certification or associates degrees.
