Idaho is a state still largely supported by agriculture, with sprawling ranches and of course, potatoes! Its small towns and cities support several colleges and universities, most of which offer art-related degree programs (both in fine arts and technical fields). Job prospects for art students are generally good - job openings for art and design workers are expected to grow 23.9% from 2000-2010.
Traditional and folklife arts are supported through grants (especially grants for traditional artists to take on apprentices and pass the tradition down) and community education and outreach. Native American art is found throughout the state. Of course, there's also modern American and international art! Check out the state's museums; the Black History Museum, the Boise Art Museum, the Museum of Natural History, and the Warhawk Air Museum.
