About: Founded by artist Philip Trachtman in 1971, the college became The Art Institute of Philadelphia in 1979. The Art Institute of Philadelphia occupies 1622 Chestnut Street, a building originally designed in 1928 as the CBS flagship radio station affiliate. Designated as a historical site by the Philadelphia Historical Commission, the Art Deco building became home to the college in 1982. Today, The Art Institute of Philadelphia has additional academic facilities at 1610 and 1510 Chestnut Street and 2300 Market Street. Request Information

About: For over 30 years, Oakbridge Academy of Arts has offered students specialized art career education. Concentrated programs lead to associate of specialized technology degrees in visual design and photography, and a diploma in digital communications and design for the web. Located near Pittsburgh in Lower Burrell, Pennsylvania, Oakbridge Academy works individually with each student to ensure an optimal educational experience, while program courses provide students with focused, hands-on instruction. An externship program allows each student an opportunity to gain hands-on skills in a real-world setting, assuring an easy transition into their careers. Financial aid offerings include federal and state loan and grant programs, as well as art scholarships. Four annual start dates provide convenience to those with busy schedules. About: The Music, Art and Communication Department offers two baccalaureate programs in Art; one in Fine Art, and one in Graphic Design. These majors prepare the student to enter a variety of professional careers in the visual arts or graduate study. An Associate Degree in Fine Art is also offered and academic minors are available in Art History, Fine Art, Visual Communication, and Photography. Courses in Art Education are offered as a cognate area of study to students completing the Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. The Bachelor of Fine Art program is designed to prepare the student for entry into professional positions as illustrator, teacher, art director, art critic, studio/ commercial photographer, or indepnedent artist, and stresses life-long growth as an artist. The Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design prepares students to enter exciting careers in the fields of publishing, advertising, corporate communications and multimedia. Request Information
